JOB INTERVIEW - "Tell me about yourself"

Interviewer: Good morning, Daniel. Thanks for coming in today.

Candidate: Good morning. Thank you for having me.

Interviewer: Let’s start with a question we ask most candidates. Tell me about yourself.

Candidate: Sure. I’ve been working in sales and account management for about seven years.

I started my career at a small technology company, where I worked directly with customers and learned a lot about communication, negotiation, and customer service.

For the past four years, I’ve been working for a larger company, mainly with corporate clients. In my current role, I’m responsible for managing key accounts, maintaining relationships with existing customers, and identifying new business opportunities.

Interviewer: What would you say are your main strengths?

Candidate: I think one of my main strengths is communication. I’m comfortable talking to different types of people, understanding what they need, and finding solutions that work for both the customer and the company.

I’m also very organized. I usually manage several clients and projects at the same time, so planning and prioritizing are important parts of my job.

Interviewer: Can you give me an example of something you’re particularly proud of?

Candidate: Of course.

Last year, one of our biggest clients was considering changing suppliers because they were unhappy with some delays. I worked closely with our operations team and the client to understand the problem and improve the process.

After a few months, we were able to solve most of the issues, and the client decided to renew the contract. They also increased the amount of business they were doing with us.

Interviewer: That sounds like a challenging situation.

Candidate: It was, but it taught me a lot.

I learned that sometimes the most important thing isn’t having an immediate answer. It’s listening carefully, communicating clearly, and making sure the customer knows you’re working on the problem.

Interviewer: Why are you looking for a new opportunity?

Candidate: I’ve learned a lot in my current position, and I’m grateful for the experience I’ve had there.

But I feel ready for a new challenge. I’d like to work in a role where I can take on more responsibility, contribute to larger projects, and continue developing professionally.

Interviewer: And what interested you about this position?

Candidate: The position caught my attention because it combines several areas that I already have experience in, such as client relationships, negotiation, and business development.

At the same time, it would give me the opportunity to work with a larger international team, which really appeals to me.

Interviewer: Great. Thank you, Daniel. That gives me a good overview of your experience.

Candidate: Thank you. I’d be happy to tell you more about any part of my background.
